Do you have a lock problem?
Are you experiencing intermittent lock problems? ‘Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t’ Does this sound familiar? It can be very frustrating when your locks are playing up but then all of a sudden it seems to work again and you put off getting it sorted.
intermittent lock problems
If you are experiencing problems with your locks, they are not working or you suspect your lock is faulty, then DO NOT put off calling a locksmith for a repair or replacement lock. DO NOT bury your head in the sand! The situation is only going to end one way and it’s just a matter of time before you end up inconvenienced and having to call out an emergency locksmith for help. The symptoms you are experiencing are alerting you to a problem with your locks. If you call a locksmith they will be able to assess your locks, diagnose the fault with the door or lock and make a repair. Further expense, inconvenience, and frustration can all be avoided.
What NOT to do when you experience lock problems
DO NOT assume that the lock will need to be replaced. In many cases a skilled locksmith will be able to diagnose the fault with your lock and make a cost effective repair.
DO NOT assume that calling a locksmith for a lock repair will be expensive. If you put off getting a repair when it is needed then the problem may become worse and your costs will increase. We will always look for the most cost-effective solution for you. We will present options and provide accurate fixed prices before we complete a lock repair.
DO NOT try and fix the problem yourself. If you try and perform a DIY lock repair you may make the problem worse. You may cause further damage that makes it more difficult for your locksmith to identify what the real problem is. Alternatively, you may think you have repaired it but the efficiency and security performance of the lock may be compromised.
DO NOT try and force the lock or the door handle. Forcing the door lock or handle could make the problem worse and more expensive to fix.
DO NOT forget that all of our locksmith services are guaranteed for 12 months. If we have replaced a lock or spare part for you and you are unfortunate enough to experience problems with it within the first 12 months please call us and let us know so we can come and fix it.
DO NOT leave it! The problem will not go away! If your door or window lock is not working as it should be then you may be compromising your safety or the safety of others. You may not be able to access your property, or you may not be able to leave safely in an emergency.
Lock Replacement
If repairing your lock is not possible or cost-effective we will make recommendations for a replacement lock that meets British Standards BS-3621 and provide you with clear and accurate fixed prices for the job. Please read more about replacement locks here.
